2 B or Not 2 B that is the Question??

Right here goes Jonesy’s first attempt of a match report forgive me if I’m not as witty as Simon or as comical as Fabre-Craske or Coops.

Sunday morning to Coldhams Common where the sports ressies record this year was played 2 won 2 and with one of these wins against Cosmos we should have been confident of banishing last weekends shock cup result.

In the dressing room mood was good ahead of the match with Coops bowling in at 10:20 eyes glazed over still steaming, great banter from all the lads with some outrageous footy chants mainly questioning a certain Arsenal centre backs sexuality (cheers Hutton).

Slight set back before the game was a late drop out from Danny Mac no one knew of the absence and he was well up for the game the night before!!??

Team Line up Stan (Gaffer) chose to pick was: -

Coops

Holt                 Scrutton©                   Hutton             Blicky

Jonesy            Craske                       Fergie             Duffy

Rodg                           Charles

Sub this week much to the confusement and annoyance of Les was Shano.

The game started positively from the Sports and Craske and Fergie showed some early promising touches trying to use Duffy and Jonesy on the wings. Cosmos did not look a threat to the strong centre backs Hutts and Scrutts I know what your thinking sounds like a comedy duo but there all action no laughs on the pitch!! I’m getting use to this match reporting!! Holty was reminiscent of Gary Neville in is hay day up and down the wing supporting Jonesy as he needed supporting after a surprise night out!!  It was not long before Sports dominance showed as they took an early lead a swift move saw Rodger lob the keeper fine finish from the powerful forward 1-0 and well deserved. Sports were playing well but there were rallying cries saying lets take it to them and “come on boys we can smash these”. Couple of corners fell to Cosmos which were expertly cleared by Scrutts and Holty. They were starting to extort a bit of pressure on to the back 4 and were looking for there nippy left winger but our solid defence were not having any of it and looking assured as ever. Then the sports hit again through the talents of Charlie Arthur who tucked the ball nicely home in the corner. Sports were playing neat football on both wings especially a nice bit of interplay between Duffy, Fergie and Charlie.

Sports sitting comfortably at 2-0 this was where we took our foot off the pedal and balls starting to go astray.  Soaking up a bit of pressure from Cosmos we launched our own attack it ended out on the wing to Jonesy who had the blinkers on according to our captain and instead of squaring back went for glory and keeper saved well with his legs.

15 minutes to go in the 1st half Cosmos keeper kicked the ball out of his hands and it some how evaded all of our midfield I don’t know how this happened and ended up at Captain Scrutts feet who then turned and passed it back to Coops with a bit of force as the pitch was sticky and unfortunately Coops then slipped it must have been that 1 beer too many and some how it ended in the back of Coops’ net lifeline to Cosmos they know had the bit between there teeth hoping to get something out of a game they have never controlled.

After this Sports kicked back in to life and a pin point through ball by Fabre-Craske to Charshavin was inexplicably chipped just wide. Fabre-Craske could not quite believe what had happened.

A breakthrough before halftime is what Sports were looking for and eventually this is what they would get when a long ball from our determined Captain struck a Cosmos player on the back and fell kindly to the onwaiting Jonesy who coolly slotted home to double his tally this season and spare Sports blushes.

2nd half talk was lets capitalise as Cosmos were players missing and only had a bear 11 we should be destroying teams like this was the cry. At half time Jonesy had a stitch that he couldn’t shake off and was replaced by the scarf wearing Shane (Man Up)!! Stan changed the tactics and sent Duffy up top alongside Rodg and Charlie in his more familiar left wing.

Sports were looking to press forward at every opportunity in the second half and it wasn’t long before we forced a corner, corner played out by Comos and they hit us on the break outpacing Blicky and got there selves back in the game 3-2 not the best of starts for Sports.

After the disappointment of giving a sloppy goal away Craske started to dominate in the midfield feeding balls here there and everywhere. Noticeably the ball of the game fed Shane in who then rounded the keeper and somehow missed the open goal was this to be Sports day???

Cosmos then somehow plucked a ball out of nowhere to there left winger who placed the ball past Coops 3-3 were Cosmos really our bogey team??

By this time we were still creating chance after chance but not capitalising and putting them away.

Some sloppy play on the left and somehow the ball got across leaving them to tap home and dream of a win that they never even believe they would get.

More chances fell to Sports Fergie dipped a volley just over and a couple of certain penalty decisions turned down by the Sammy Lee look a like ref who wasn’t really interested in our game he was watching the game on the next pitch. We pushed forward for that goal we deserved but unfortunately never came.

MOM – Man of the match is Tom Craske for his tireless effort throughout the game and some beautiful passes. Mention to Scrutts who won every header, Holty up and down the right and also Jonesy for a well taken goal and a good first half.

Comments for next match: We need a much positive outlook and we need to start praising our players not putting them down!! Also STAN is the manager he makes the decisions a lot of us have our own team in our head but the buck stops with him. We are team and we must work as a team to get the best results!!

I would appreciate comments on my 1st report I can handle criticism!! (I THINK)

Peace out Jonesy!!

Good effort mate like it, nice to read an alternative report.
I’ll apologise for turning up a state. Was told last night I’d been drinking from a two pint jug aswell as doing every shot they had on the table. Never again on I’ll turn up that bad and let you boys down.( then again at least I did turn up)
Also good point Stan is our gaffer, he makes the decisions we just gotta go and play how we can do. Yes roger can be quicker with passing, but there are also times he has nobody ahead of him for a pass, so let’s help each other out. Also let’s play to the whistle, few times we seemed to stop for no reason.
